Hi!  I’m Wesley Weathington.  I have been the Children’s Pastor here at Carver Road Baptist Church since September of 2009, and I have been a member here since 1994.  I would love to share some of my testimony with you about what Jesus Christ has done in my life.  

Before I came to Christ, I spiritually viewed my life as a standard of morality.  I had “religion” and not a “relationship” with Jesus Christ.  From the time of my childhood, I was taught the demeanor of Christians in church.  As I transitioned from my childhood into adolescence, I began to experience a deeper yearning for a personal relationship with the Savior I had always learned about in church.  I began to feel God calling me to Himself.

My conversion from being lost to saved took place at a youth camp in June of 2007 located in Panama City Beach, Florida.  I was on the volleyball court during a “Praise and Worship” session.  Greater than ever before, I felt the presence of God within me, and I knew He was calling me to come to salvation.  I accepted His gift of eternal salvation with complete gratitude.  I knew that He was the only way to Heaven.  I was so grateful for His death because I knew it was the only sufficient atonement for my sinful nature.  He manifested His ability to overcome sin and death through His resurrection.  His resurrection gives me an everlasting peace because it means that He has already won the battle against Satan for my soul.

 

From the time of my salvation experience, Christ has tremendously influenced and changed my life.  He has grown me in many areas from faith to spiritual discipline.  Prior to surrendering my life to God, I always tried to provide for myself a successful future.  I was pursuing dentistry and trying to build up a life of stability.  Even after my conversion, I still depended on myself more than my Savior, but I have grown largely in my faith.  I have accepted the call into ministry with children, and I have quit pursuing dentistry.  I am pursuing the will and purpose that God has for my life now.

I am enrolled in Liberty University’s Distance Learning Program.  I am currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.  The Lord has really blessed me by allowing me to experience such a wonderful education through Liberty University.      

Some of my interests are working with children, music, singing, landscaping, and spending time with my family.      

I recently married my best friend and ministry partner, Brittany, in April of 2010.  She is a Pre-k Paraprofessional at a local school in our community.  We are both very passionate about working with children and are excited to see where the Lord leads us in the future.
